Car Parking and Arrival

There is a car park for arrivals and one car per Wigwam® Cabin is permitted. Once guests have checked in at Reception, then they can proceed down the site with their vehicle and park adjacent to their cabin. At certain times you will be requested to park on the gravel (ie if the grass is exceptionally wet).

You will need to be aware of our Terms and Conditions about noise levels, guest numbers, dog policy, etc. Our yurts each take up to two adults and two children in each unit.

Dogs are NOT permitted inside the Yurts, many thanks. Our other accommodation, apart from the Bell Tents, are pooch friendly.

Toilets and Showers

There are two well-placed shower blocks on the site. The main facilities are positioned in a relatively central position and include: ladies and gents facilities and an accessible family toilet and shower room.

The accessible family toilet and shower room includes toilet, grab rails, washbasin and shower.

This facility block also has a kitchen with sinks, fridge and freezer facilities.

There is an additional toilet block just behind the Shop/Reception, including three shower cubicles, three toilets, a hair dryer and a sink.

This section is approached by a flat path and a wide doorway with a slope leading into the toilets and showers.

This is usually open during office hours and has a stone ramp on the approach to the main door which has a one inch ‘lip’.

The Shop includes cold drinks, souvenirs and basic supplies during the peak season.

The shop has an oblong layout with shelving on all sides and an island shelf in the centre. The approach to the counter is the widest part of the shop layout and will accommodate a wheelchair.

The Reflection Garden

Our new Reflection Garden is at ground levels with slated paths, timber chairs and lots more. There are two gates to access the garden.

The Hive

Open at selected times this also had an entrance door with a small ‘lip’ and patio doors which can be opened during warm weather.

There is a small breakfast bar with stools inside The Hive.

Dining Areas

Outside The Hive and the Shop there is a flat dining area with patio chairs and tables.

Nearest hospital with an A&E Department is Scarborough General, Woodlands Drive, Scarborough YO12 6QL. Please note there is no mobile signal at Humble Bee Farm.

Nomadic Yurts

Each yurt includes: Warming stove burner, twinkly fairy lights, comfy double bed with mattress, two single futons, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge (electricity included in the tariff; special timber for log burner and/or outdoor fire bowl can be ordered from Humble Bee Farm Reception). There is an outdoor cooking area provided with each Yurt. There is no step into the Yurts although there is a protective wooden lip on entering.

Outdoor Cooking Area

There is an outdoor cooking area with standard level facilities.

Children’s Play Area

The play area is located at the bottom of the site next to the football field

This is available for guests of Humble Bee Farm to hire in advance. Please see our separate access statement for this facility.

Driveway and Farm Walks

A tarmac drive forms the access to the site from the public road to the Reception/Shop area and car park and extends down the site as far as the camping bell tent section.

The main drive has a sharp bend and a descent into the site.

There are several farm walks around the site that follow grass margins around certain fields. These tracks are suitable for rambling and dog walks (dogs must be kept on a lead at all times).

Correct footwear must be worn given the uneven surface of the field margins.

Access for our Nomadic Yurts (open March to November each year).

Our canvas Nomadic Yurts measure 5m in diameter.

Each yurt has a circular window and a timber lockable door.

There are no steps either around the yurts or inside it, as this accommodation is on the ground floor.

Sorry, dogs not permitted in the yurts, however they are permitted in our cottages, Wigwam® Cabins and for anyone that brings a tent or tourer. Dogs incur a tariff and prior notice is essential.

Each yurt can accommodate a family of four (two adults, two children). Bed arrangements include one double bed and two futons.

The facilities inside each yurt include: toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge (with small freezer compartment); log burning stove, coffee table, electric heater, lighting, storage area, power sockets.

Outside each yurt, the following outdoor facilities are provided: charcoal bbq, picnic table (for four guests), canopied cooking area, one parking space on an adjacent gravelled area next to each yurt.

Facilities inside the yurts are of standard height.

  • Yurt stay

This was our first time at humble bee and first time in a yurt. We had no complaints – not even the weather! The site was absolutely lovely, staff friendly and welcoming. All of the facilities were clean and in good order. It was busy but didn’t feel crowded at all and I neve had to wait to wash up or use the shower etc The yurt was absolutely fantastic – a real must if you fancy easing yourself into camping. Lots of little extras included as standard – bunting, fairy lights, a blanket, cushions, 2 bedside lanterns and a set of drawers to name but a few, along with the stated microwave, kettle and toaster. Our children, 8&4, loved the the working farm side of things – animals, egg collecting, the park and playing field. Nature walk and the nature activity we booked onto were great (various free events run by a local wildlife scheme) Low noise policy was good as by 9pm things began to quieten down, low level talking by the adults around the fire pits made for wonderful peaceful evenings. Pizza oven was a delicious treat! Would definitely recommend and would go again. A wonderful little find.
