Are fireworks permitted on site?

We do not allow fireworks anywhere on site at Humble Bee Farm.

Is there a pub nearby?

The nearest pub is about 1.5 miles away in Flixton village. There is a very steep, unlit road leading from Humble Bee to the village. Therefore we recommend you nominate a driver or book a taxi. From spring 2020, the shop at Humble Bee Farm will have a licence to sell wine, Prosecco and bottled beers from 9am to 5pm. Please note all pubs, restaurants and take away are subject to any restrictions from central Government as to opening hours and ordering criteria.

Do you have onsite entertainment?

There is no public bar onsite, however from spring 2020, the onsite shop is licensed to sell wine, Prosecco and bottle beers between the hours of 9am to 5pm only.

Our site features family-friendly nature events usually from February to December. These can be booked in advance by guests and a small selection is open to the public.

Do you accept one night bookings?

One night stays are taken for our glamping and camping accommodation only and usually as a last minute booking. One night stays are not accepted for our holiday cottages.

Do you have a minimum stay?

Two nights minimum, four nights over a Bank Holiday weekend. Cottages and other accommodation vary from two night minimum to a one week stay.

What attractions are nearby?

Please see our information boards and leaflet holders onsite. We have a host of attractions within driving distance, including Flamingoland, Scarborough Sea Life, Alpamare, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Castle Howard, Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Whitby Abbey and many, many more.

What happens if I need the doctor/dentist/hospital/ vet?

When you arrive at Humble Bee, you will be given an information sheet and it includes useful telephone numbers.

If the office is open and it’s an urgent call, you can request use of the office landline. If the office is closed, then you can get a mobile phone signal if you ascend any of the hills close to the farm.

Is there a mobile phone signal and what about WiFi?

There is no mobile phone signal on the main site. There is a signal at the entrance of the site.

We have WiFi available on the site. Due to our rural location the wifi signal is great for messaging friends, checking your social media and other websites, and checking emails (only if you want to!). Our wifi signal isn’t strong enough for online streaming or similar tasks. Humble Bee Farm is a great place to become a bit ‘unplugged’ from technology for a few days.


What is the minimum age?

We do not take bookings from anyone aged under 21 years.

What are your facilities?

We have two shower blocks with toilets, children’s play area, chemical disposal, communal wash-up area, fridge facilities, onsite shop/reception, farm walks, duck pond, football field and noticeboards.

Do you take group bookings?

Humble Bee Farm is known for being a peaceful location at which guests can enjoy a lovely holiday.

If you are wanting to book with us for a family occasion or celebration, then you’ll need to the know the initial guidelines and you’ll also need to be aware of our Terms and Conditions, which we ask you to read and confirm prior to booking. Key elements include:

  • We don’t allow music or loud noise on site
  • Children must not play on the play-area after 9pm
  • Conversation-level noise only after 9.30 pm
  • We ask all our guests to follow these simple steps so everyone can relax and enjoy their time at Humble Bee Farm
  • We are happy to answer any questions you might have.

Is there wifi on site?

We do have wifi available on site for all guests. Wifi is £3 per day per device. The wifi is for browsing only, not for streaming videos etc. Please note, we, unfortunately, do not have any mobile signal on the main site.

Can our accommodations be allocated together?

If you are booking 2 or more units we will do our best to secure adjacent accommodation. Please ensure when booking that you inform us that you would like to be together if possible.

Please note if you are booking more than 2 accommodation types you will need to read the group booking terms and conditions and confirm on an email to us that you are familiar with them and that you agree to our site rules.

We have a number of different types of accommodation and due to the natural layout of our site, which occupies a peaceful valley, some of our units are located separately to others. We are happy to discuss this with you if you have any questions.

Can you dispose of gas canisters/cylinders at Humble Bee Farm?

Unfortuantely not, we do not dispose of these at Humble Bee you will need to take them home with you.

Do we allow vans on site at Humble Bee Farm?

Please note we do not allow commercial vehicles on site, unless prior arrangements have been made. A picture of the vehicle would be required before a decision is made. Please note if this is not done it could result in you not being able to park at Humble Bee Farm.

Do we accept Stag/Hen Parties at Humble Bee Farm?

Due to the peace and quiet of our site, we do not accept Stag or Hen parties. However, you can join us for a peaceful, restful break once the wedding is over! We are a low noise policy site, allowing for a restful break for all our guests.

Our location is surrounded by peaceful fields and pastures. As a low noise policy site, we have families and couples who book with us for some quality time at our tranquil working farm. Also as per our terms and conditions we don’t allow any music to be played by our guests. We welcome all guests that require that rest and relaxation that a Humble Bee break can bring.

Where is the nearest food-serving pub?

The Foxhound is on Main Street, Flixton and is the nearest pub, about one mile from the Humble Bee Farm. As we are in such a tranquil location, the road between the farm and the pub is unlit and therefore we would suggest you nominate a driver. On arrival, you will be given a helpful information sheet, on which there are brief details about other nearby pubs and restaurants.

What is there to do on Humble Bee Farm?

Our farm is a working arable/stock farm and is very peaceful, surrounded by the chalk hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. There is a children’s play area, football field, lovely walks, and of course some farm animals, including ducks, hens, cows, sheep, cats and our farm dogs. We host a variety of events from February to December here on our farm. Please ask the staff about attractions in the area, of which there are many to choose from.

How far is it to the nearest beach?

Humble Bee Farm is perfectly located for some of the finest beaches in the country. Hunmanby Gap is a hidden gem and is about four miles away. Filey Bay is delightful and is about five miles away. Scarborough has two fabulous bays, North and South (about 10 miles away). Bridlington is also a great seaside destination is about 15 miles away. Please note: If you have dogs, there are dog restrictions on most Yorkshire Coast beaches from May to September inclusive. And don’t forget to bear in mind there are two tides a day!

Where are your nearest supermarkets?

The nearest mini-supermarket is Proudfoots in Seamer, a village just off the A64 between Staxton and Scarborough. Click here for their website.

Within five miles there is a Morrisons (just off the A64); there is also a small range of supermarkets, including Tesco, in Filey (also about five miles away). In Scarborough there is Sainsburys and Tesco. Opening times vary.

At busy times, we sell fresh bread, milk, eggs, locally-sourced bacon and sausages.

What does Humble Bee shop sell?

We have an onsite shop/reception which during peak season sells bread, milk, eggs, bacon, sausage, hot & cold drinks, sweets, souvenirs, some toiletries, tea, coffee, jam, butter, cereals, biscuits, toys, games and other items.

The shop is open all year round but has reduced hours in the winter.

From spring 2020, we will also have an alcohol licence to sell wine, Prosecco and bottled beers from our onsite shop during the hours of 9am to 5pm.

Is there public transport to Humble Bee Farm?

Humble Bee Farm is in a rural location. Having your own transport is a definite advantage. Please note there is a seasonal bus route that serves Flixton village, approx. 1.5 miles away.

To the best of our knowledge, this service operates during the summer season and is provided by Coastliner no. 845. However, we strongly advise you check the buses are running if you are relying on them for getting about.

The nearest train stations are at Seamer (approx. 4 miles away) and Hunmanby (approx. 4 miles away). There are other stations in Scarborough (approx. 9 miles away) and Filey (approx. 5 miles away). There are also local taxi firms that will pick up and drop off at Humble Bee.

What are your shower and toilet facilities like?

Humble Bee has two shower/toilet blocks: one behind the reception/shop, and one in the middle of the site. The one near to reception includes three showers, two toilets, a sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. The main shower block includes a kitchen (with fridge/freezer, microwave, three sinks, information point); a disabled/family shower including a baby change facility; gents toilets and showers and ladies toilets and showers. Big Chief Wigwams and Yurts are spacious but do not include a loo/shower in the Wigwam itself.
