Answers to questions we are asked about Camping and Caravanning

Our campsite is peaceful and spacious with clean and well equipped facilities. Enjoy fabulous sunsets, cosy campfires and a truly rural camping experience.

Are fireworks permitted on site?

We do not allow fireworks anywhere on site at Humble Bee Farm.

Is there a pub nearby?

The nearest pub is about 1.5 miles away in Flixton village. There is a very steep, unlit road leading from Humble Bee to the village. Therefore we recommend you nominate a driver or book a taxi. From spring 2020, the shop at Humble Bee Farm will have a licence to sell wine, Prosecco and bottled beers from 9am to 5pm.

Do you have onsite entertainment?

There is no public bar onsite, however from spring 2020, the onsite shop is licensed to sell wine, Prosecco and bottle beers between the hours of 9am to 5pm only.

Our site features family-friendly nature events from February to December. These can be booked in advance by guests and a selection is open to the public.

Do you accept one night bookings?

One night stays are taken for our glamping and camping accommodation only and usually as a last minute booking. One night stays are not accepted for our holiday cottages.

Do you have a minimum stay?

Two nights minimum, four nights over a Bank Holiday weekend. Cottages and other accommodation vary from two night minimum to a one week stay.

How do we book?

Camping bookings can be made online or over the phone. All bookings must be made in advance. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details. Please note we DO NOT offer refunds under any circumstances.

Do you accept gazebos?

Yes, up to a certain size at a nightly tariff.

How many cars per pitch?

One vehicle per pitch.

How many guests per tent?

Tent pitch prices include 4 persons. Tent pitches max 6 persons per pitch. Extra adults @ £4.50 per night, extra children @ £3.50 per night

How many tents are permitted per pitch?

Strictly one tent per pitch.

What size tent can be accommodated?

Please note we accept bookings for large tents. The pitch sizes are approximately 6 metres by 7 metres and this must include your car, tent, ropes and can include a small awning if required.

What attractions are nearby?

Please see our information boards and leaflet holders onsite. We have a host of attractions within driving distance, including Flamingoland, Scarborough Sea Life, Alpamare, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Castle Howard, Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Whitby Abbey and many, many more.

What happens if I need the doctor/dentist/hospital/ vet?

When you arrive at Humble Bee, you will be given an information sheet and it includes useful telephone numbers.

If the office is open and it’s an urgent call, you can request use of the office landline. If the office is closed, then you can get a mobile phone signal if you ascend any of the hills close to the farm.

Is there a mobile phone signal?

There is no mobile phone signal on the main site. There is a signal at the entrance of the site.

Do you allow campfires?

You can hire a timber fire pit from reception at a nightly tariff. You can order this for a nightly charge from reception during opening hours.

We ask all guests to use their fire pit safely.

Please note you are NOT permitted to bring your own fire pit, fire bowl or timber.

What is the minimum age?

We do not take bookings from anyone aged under 21 years.

What are your facilities?

We have two shower blocks with toilets, children’s play area, chemical disposal, communal wash-up area, fridge facilities, onsite shop/reception, farm walks, duck pond, football field and noticeboards.

What time is check in and check out?

Check-in opens at 2 pm, and check out is at 11 am for camping/caravanning.

How many pitches do you have?

We have 5 hardstand pitches for tourers, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents open all year. We have 12 non-electric camping pitches suitable for medium-sized tents, open April to September.

Do you take group bookings?

Humble Bee Farm is known for being a peaceful location at which guests can enjoy a lovely holiday.

If you are wanting to book with us for a family occasion or celebration, then you’ll need to the know the initial guidelines and you’ll also need to be aware of our Terms and Conditions, which we ask you to read and confirm prior to booking. Key elements include:

  • We don’t allow music or loud noise on site
  • Children must not play on the play-area after 9pm
  • Conversation-level noise only after 9.30 pm
  • We ask all our guests to follow these simple steps so everyone can relax and enjoy their time at Humble Bee Farm
  • We are happy to answer any questions you might have.

Is there wifi on site?

We do have wifi available on site for all guests. Wifi is £3 per day per device. The wifi is for browsing only, not for streaming videos etc. Please note, we, unfortunately, do not have any mobile signal on the main site.

Can our accommodations be allocated together?

If you are booking 2 or more units we will do our best to secure adjacent accommodation. Please ensure when booking that you inform us that you would like to be together if possible.

Please note if you are booking more than 2 accommodation types you will need to read the group booking terms and conditions and confirm on an email to us that you are familiar with them and that you agree to our site rules.

We have a number of different types of accommodation and due to the natural layout of our site, which occupies a peaceful valley, some of our units are located separately to others. We are happy to discuss this with you if you have any questions.

Can you dispose of gas canisters/cylinders at Humble Bee Farm?

Unfortuantely not, we do not dispose of these at Humble Bee you will need to take them home with you.

Do we allow vans on site at Humble Bee Farm?

Please note we do not allow commercial vehicles on site, unless prior arrangements have been made. A picture of the vehicle would be required before a decision is made. Please note if this is not done it could result in you not being able to park at Humble Bee Farm.

Where are your nearest supermarkets?

The nearest mini-supermarket is Proudfoots in Seamer, a village just off the A64 between Staxton and Scarborough. Click here for their website.

Within five miles there is a Morrisons (just off the A64); there is also a small range of supermarkets, including Tesco, in Filey (also about five miles away). In Scarborough there is Sainsburys and Tesco. Opening times vary.

At busy times, we sell fresh bread, milk, eggs, locally-sourced bacon and sausages.

What does Humble Bee shop sell?

We have an onsite shop/reception which during peak season sells bread, milk, eggs, bacon, sausage, hot & cold drinks, sweets, souvenirs, some toiletries, tea, coffee, jam, butter, cereals, biscuits, toys, games and other items.

The shop is open all year round but has reduced hours in the winter.

From spring 2020, we will also have an alcohol licence to sell wine, Prosecco and bottled beers from our onsite shop during the hours of 9am to 5pm.

Is there public transport to Humble Bee Farm?

Humble Bee Farm is in a rural location. Having your own transport is a definite advantage. Please note there is a seasonal bus route that serves Flixton village, approx. 1.5 miles away.

To the best of our knowledge, this service operates during the summer season and is provided by Coastliner no. 845. However, we strongly advise you check the buses are running if you are relying on them for getting about.

The nearest train stations are at Seamer (approx. 4 miles away) and Hunmanby (approx. 4 miles away). There are other stations in Scarborough (approx. 9 miles away) and Filey (approx. 5 miles away). There are also local taxi firms that will pick up and drop off at Humble Bee.

Can I bring my dog?

Camping

Dogs are allowed in all our accommodation types except Yurts. All visiting dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times. We make a small charge for dogs who stay on our campsite.

Our site is based on a working farm, with lots of livestock in fields and barns. We have a number of bins provided around the site for dog waste, and fabulous farm walks around perimeter of the farm and into the Yorkshire Wolds – in fact, dog owners don’t need to leave the site if they don’t want to, as our site is so welcoming for our four legged friends (and we have working dogs ourselves).

Our staff are also able to advise as to dog friendly pubs, dog friendly beaches, attractions etc.

We do ask visiting dogs to be on a lead at all times given we have cows, sheep and pigs in residence throughout the year.

Please note if you bring your dog, you cannot leave him or her unattended at any time.

Wigwam® Cabins

Yes, you can bring your dog by prior arrangement. We allow one dog per Wigwam®. A tariff applies. Please call us for further information on 01723 890437. Dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times & must not be left unattanded at any time. We have several farm walks around the farm, which are suitable for dog walking. Please ask us for details.

Luxury Cottages

Yes, you can bring your dog. We allow one dog per cottage, and a tariff applies. Please call us for further information on 01723 890437. Dogs are permitted in certain areas of the cottages only – please ask us for details. When outside, dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times. We have several farm walks around the farm, which are suitable for dog walking. Please ask us for directions.

The pooch tariff  covers the cost of thorough cleaning after every visit so we ensure our cottages are spotlessly clean ready for the next guest.

Yurts

Sorry but dogs are not allowed in Humble Bee Yurts. You can bring dogs (for an extra tariff) with you if you book a Wigwam, Cottage or if you stay on our peaceful campsite.
