Doorstep Holidays
What is a doorstep holiday?
A doorstep holiday is a staycation which is just a few miles from your home.
As we’re all watching fuel prices go up and up, this means you can have your glamping stay without breaking the bank here at Humble Bee Farm close to where you live.
Our mixed arable and stock farm is a family-run business with glamping cabins, hot tubs, yurts, bell tents, camping and holiday cottages.
Meet Farmer Percy and enjoy exploring our farm with its animals, walks and wildlife.
What are the benefits of a doorstep holiday?
As well as saving money on petrol, diesel or even on your electric car’s energy consumption, you also have a much shorter journey to your holiday destination.
The doorstep holiday is THE way to enjoy your staycation in 2022!
Why Have a Doorstep Holiday at Humble Bee Farm?
Lots of our guests are already doorstep holiday makers!
We have a good percentage of our returning guests who live just a few miles down the road.
In fact, we’ve even had glamping guests from the next village book their cabin with us!
We also have some doorstep holiday makers who join us every year from Scarborough, Bridlington and Driffield.
The doorstep holiday is also perfect for a three generation holiday with grandparents, parents and children able to make the most of a shorter, less hassling journey.
It’s Like a Different World!
So many of our guests say that once you’ve descended the drive into our farmyard, it’s like you’re in a different world.
We have some really fun welcome signs to help you relax as you arrive.
You can check in from 3pm (4pm for cottages).
You can hear the hens clucking and pecking about, maybe hear Tilly our Shetland Pony whinny her welcome and see the stunning scenery that surrounds our working farm.
Peaceful Times
Humble Bee nestles in a chalk valley with its own duck pond which is home to several duck breeds.
We are a quiet site with birdsong as our background noise.
While you can get WiFi, there is a limited phone signal so it’s the ideal time to ‘switch off’ during your doorstep holiday.
We’ve recently opened our Reflection Garden too for some tranquil contemplation.
Get the Farm Experience!
Did you know that you can join Farmer Percy on his rounds on selected dates?
You can join him while he checks on the hens, the pigs, see if Tilly has enough hay and in early spring, see some lambs being born, too.
We’ve also got smaller animals to see such as our guinea pigs.
You might also get the chance to meet Alfie and Madge our two sheep dogs.
And we’ve just welcomed Jessica and Daisy, two retired seaside donkeys, to the farmyard gang.
Some Other Ways to Enjoy Your Doorstep Holiday!
Humble Bee Farm has its own shop and reception area, open from 9am daily.
We’ve also got The Hive, the takeaway café bar which is open at selected times.
Our indoor Mini Bee’s Play Barn is perfect for our younger visitors to enjoy, complete with pedal tractors and hay bales.
We have an outdoor play area and a football field onsite too.
Tilly, our Shetland Pony can also be booked for a walk.
The children’s facilities are free to use for guests here at Humble Bee Farm.
Farm Walks on the Doorstep!
From your accommodation we have three stunning farm walks for you to enjoy.
Piggy Back Walk includes interactive information boards telling you all about the wildlife you can spot, from hares to hedgehogs.
The other two walks – Staxton Wold and Bumble Bee – are quite a bit longer and Bumble Bee has a number of stiles.
Did you know there is also the Wolds Way National Trail just moments from our farm, too?
This is a long distance walk suitable for seasoned ramblers.
Ways to Enhance Your Doorstep Holiday

Humble Bee Farm does have a rule about firepits … guests can’t bring their own or their own timber, but they are welcome to purchase our quality timber, firelighters and matches from our shop during opening times.
