Lambing at Humble Bee Farm – What an Experience.

Humble Bee Farm’s Lambing events offer an enriching experience for little ones and grown-ups alike.

Our lambing events are family friendly and take place on a real working farm.

Guests get chance to meet the farmer and maybe see a lambing being born.

Lambing and sheep rearing have been part of livestock farming for hundreds of years.

The lambing season takes place in March and April each year at Humble Bee Farm.

We have ewes and rams on our working farm all year round.

Our sheep graze naturally in the fields for most of the year.

Once they’ve been scanned to see how many lambs they’re carrying, the expectant ewes then come into our lambing barn to keep warm and to ensure they are well fed.

Lambing helps teach very young children the farming way of life.

It is also a way of educating youngsters about nature, agriculture and the natural world.

Lambing shows a younger generation about the possibilities of farming, how to care of animals and take responsibility.

It can also teach little ones how to be respectful of animals.

Holding a lamb and seeing one being born is can be a once in a lifetime experience for many people, whatever their age.

For anyone who lives in a town or city, lambing offers a glimpse of a rural life, steeped in tradition.

Lambing supports countless businesses including vets, shearers, shepherds and many others.

Lambing can be a memorable and enjoyable family occasion.

It teaches the value of farming and the circle of life.

It can also teach children some important ‘life lessons’ such as taking turns, sharing and understanding when it’s a good time to be quiet and peaceful.

Other skills that little ones can learn are numeracy skills such as counting; language skills such as learning new words; and interactive skills with other children and adults.

Our lambing experiences also take place in the great outdoors and offer an immersive experience, with real animals!

Once our lambs are old enough, they go out into our fields and in June each year, our sheep shearing takes place.

Humble Bee Farm and Farmer Percy look after their animals day and night, making sure they are safe and healthy.

Farming helps provide food for humans and animals and has done so for many centuries.

We have limited availability with our Lambing Sunday for 2023. Find out more here.
